Australian, NZ dollars consolidate, eye fresh leads

The Australian and New Zealand dollars were steady early on Monday, with recent global stimulus offsetting worries about a slowing Chinese economy. The Aussie was flat around US$1.0444 from Friday’s late New York trade of US$1.0457. It touched a low of US$1.0441 offshore, well off the five-month high of $1.0564 struck last week. The New Zealand dollar was about 82.95 US cents, little changed from its New York close.
