Market Wrap: Hong Kong stocks end flat; cement stock down on profit taking

Hong Kong stocks ended flat, with investors sitting on their hands ahead of both a potentially crucial verdict on Europe’s bailout mechanism and a U.S. Federal Reserve FOMC meeting.

German’s Constitutional Court will rule on Wednesday on the constitutionality of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the euro zone’s bailout fund. “The uncertainty is there, so investors just didn't dare to jump into the market ahead of the ruling,” said Eugene Law, business development director at China Galaxy International.
