New product launch casts light on Apple-Hon Hai alliance

There was no stopping Terry Gou Tai-ming, the highly outspoken founder and chairman of Hon Hai Precision Industry, when he declared at his company's annual shareholders meeting that Apple's new iPhone was coming soon to trump the competition.

Months before the super secretive Apple hinted about a product refresh, Gou in June "urged consumers to wait for the launch of Apple's iPhone 5", according to a China Times report from Taiwan.

Gou said "the new model would put Samsung's Galaxy SIII to shame".
