Japan business mood worsens as global slowdown bites: BOJ tankan

Big Japanese manufacturers’ business mood worsened in the three months to September and will stay gloomy, the central bank’s tankan survey showed, a sign slowing global growth and a stubbornly strong yen was hurting the world’s third-largest economy.

Service-sector sentiment remained unchanged from three months before but is seen deteriorating as strength in domestic demand, which had partly offset the weakness in exports, the quarterly survey showed on Monday.
