Australia wages growth eases, no inflation threat

Australian wage pressure eased last quarter as private sector pay growth moderated, data on Wednesday showed, an outcome likely to please the central bank which last week skipped a chance to ease rates citing a pick-up in domestic inflation.

The government’s main measure of ordinary time earnings rose a seasonally adjusted 0.7 per cent in the third quarter of 2012, down from a 1.0 per cent increase in the second quarter and below forecasts of 0.8 per cent.
