Market Open: Hang Seng seen to open higher on fiscal cliff solution

The Hang Seng is expected to open higher on Tuesday as investors are expected to flock to build positions, tracking the increase in the US and European markets overnight, on speculation the US will settle the situation surrounding the “fiscal cliff” and prevent the world’s largest economy from tumbling into recession.

Yet sentiment could be dampened as Zhou Xiaochuan, head of China’s central bank, said inflation would remain the top concern when rolling out monetary policy, even amid low inflation.
