Market Wrap: Hang Seng falls for first time in 4 days

Hong Kong shares fell for the first time in four days in thin trade, retreating from the biggest weekly gain in more than two months, as investors took profits on recent outperformers.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened higher but retreated after approaching the physiological level of 22,000. The gauge closed down 52.17 per cent, or 0.24 per cent, to finish at 21,861.81.

“A slight consolidation is no surprising at all after such a big increase last week,” Ben Kwong, said Chief Operating Officer for KGI Asia.
