Mazda Motor says China car sales down 45pc

Mazda Motor said on Monday it sold 9,511 vehicles in China in October, down 45 per cent from a year earlier, as consumers shunned Japanese brands following a flare up in anti-Japanese sentiment due to a diplomatic row between the two countries.

The declined was steeper than the 35 per cent fall marked in September.

In the first 10 months of the year, sales fell 9 per cent from a year ago to 157,627 cars, it said.
