Australia gas minnow looks for US toehold





A small Australian energy company, whose largest shareholder is Chinese oil giant China National Petroleum, is joining a raft of firms scrambling to gain a toehold in the potentially lucrative US gas export market.


Magnolia LNG, the US subsidiary of Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd, has applied to the US Department of Energy to export up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) a year to countries holding Free Trade Agreements with the United States.
