Japan Nov exports fall, rebound still distant

Japan’s exports fell in November from a year earlier to mark the sixth straight month of declines, a worrying sign that an export recovery may be muted by weak overseas demand - bolstering the case for further monetary stimulus this week.

Finance Ministry data published on Wednesday showed a 4.1 per cent annual drop in exports, a key driver in Japan’s economy, the world’s third-largest. The fall was smaller than the median forecast for a 5.4 per cent annual decline in a Reuters poll of economists and followed a 6.5 per cent year-on-year decline in October.
