South Korea central bank chief carefully watching yen

South Korea’s central bank chief said on Wednesday that authorities were keeping a close eye on the effects from the yen’s slide, saying the weakness would likely persist for a long time.

The yen’s weakness “is still at its beginning stage,” Bank of Korea Governor Kim Choong-soo told a lecture session for provincial government officials in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
