China urban average wage growth slows

China’s urban average wages rose at a slower clip last year, official data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Friday, reflecting an impact from last year’s economic slowdown.

Employees at what the bureau calls “non-private” entities in urban areas earned an average 46,769 yuan (HK$59,126) last year, up 11.9 per cent from 2011, while staff at what it considers “private institutions” earned 28,752 yuan, an increase of 17.1 per cent.
