Student promotions drive record 3Q China spending on smart mobile devices

Summer promotions for students helped lift the mainland's total spending on smartphones, media tablets and notebook computers to a new quarterly high of 169.53 billion yuan (HK$214.32 billion) in the three months to September, when purchases reached a record volume of 103.37 million units.
