Free loans from China's central bank? Rumours lead to branch closure

A branch of the People's Bank of China in Guangxi autonomous region had to suspend operations after it was flooded by more than a thousand people hoping to get interest-free loans from China's central bank.

"The People's Bank of China is a national financial administrative organ, not a commercial bank," the branch in the coastal city of Beihai said in a statement, which was distributed among the crowd of loan applicants outside the bank on Tuesday.
